Job Description:
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Account management – 50%
◦ Serve as primary Activation account manager across several Direct Marketing accounts
◦ Supervise other Activation account managers in senior advisory role, providing guidance and support
◦ Oversee buyers’ duties in negotiating and maintaining TV schedules for several accounts
◦ Provide clear direction to Activation staff regarding client goals and campaign management actions including buy-management optimizations
◦ Represent the Activation Group in meetings/calls with client and brand strategy teams, providing insights, POVs, intelligence, and information relevant to current and potential campaign activity
◦ Manage Activation Group deadlines and deliverables
◦ Interact with senior-level brand strategists in regard to planning and campaign goals
◦ Participate in the creation and presentation of new-business pitches
• Administrative – 30%
◦ Train and oversee staff regarding advanced media trends, negotiation techniques, and policies/procedures
◦ Assess and evaluate performance of staff in accordance with Horizon Media HR processes
◦ Assess and process staff weekly timesheets
◦ Represent Horizon Media and its clients in a beneficial manner at media industry events and presentations
• Media schedule development – 10%
◦ Effectively negotiate & steward TV buys across multiple networks, stations, & accounts, including initiating aspects of added-value and schedule packages
◦ Serve as market expert, providing insight to the marketplace conditions and opportunities in specific markets or media outlets
◦ Maintain knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies that affect the buying discipline
◦ Research new opportunities and media applications; seek innovative solutions to meet clients’ goals
◦ Work closely with National Cable, Syndication & Spot Market sales executives to promote advantageous relationships
• Media schedule management – 10%
◦ Manage market budgets and deliverables (GRPs, impressions, response data)
◦ React quickly to campaign results, and implement required optimizations as directed
◦ Participate as required in special projects under direction of Activation SVP
Supervisory Responsibilities
·Responsible for overseeing an Associate Buyer as direct-report
·Responsible for reviewing and processing staff timesheets on a weekly basis
·Joint participant in development and training of junior staff, and evaluation thereof
·Responsible for directing and guiding other Activation staff members pursuant to client campaign goals
Knowledge and SkillsRequired.
·Proven leadership ability, with superlative competency in personnel, media, and account management
·Experience balancing multiple accounts of various types
·Experience working in fast-paced and fluid environment
·Minimum 10-years experience in active TV buying in both national and local markets, with experience managing staff/teams of 10-15+ members of various development levels
·Buy-management experience, analyzing all aspects of Direct Response metrics including Cost-per-Lead and Cost-per-Point
·Quantifiable negotiation skills, with favorable media industry relationships at the executive level
·Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
·Experience in creating pricing estimates
·Effective collaborator and team-player
·Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills
·Well refined communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation
