App Ops Analyst at Gannett perform the mission-critical role of ensuring that our multi cloud environments are monitored, performance tuned, automated, and designed to scale. The ideal candidate will be passionate about an operations role that involves deep knowledge of both the application and the product. He/she will also believe that automation is a key component to operating large-scale systems.
Responsibilities:
• Infrastructure Automation using Chef
• Multi Cloud API integrations with Scalr
• Monitors performance to identify and resolve system hosting problems
• Apply appropriate tools to analyze, identify, and resolve technical problems
• Work closely with customers to ensure work performed meets requirements
• Perform proactive compartment capacity planning
• Available for after hour maintenance and escalations as needed
Responsibility Breakdown:
• 40% - Hosting / Customer Support
• 40% - Chef Development / Scalr Integration
• 10% - Project planning and execution
• 10% - Documentation
Technologies, Disciplines and Systems:
• Linux (CentOS/RHEL) and Windows Server
• Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Engine, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack
• Jenkins and Team City build servers
• Automation using Python and Bash, plus extensive use of Chef
• Monitoring with Splunk, APM (AppDynamics/NewRelic), Em7, DataDog
• Experience using a cloud management platform such as Scalr or Rightscale
Minimum Qualifications:
• 4+ years experience in a Linux systems administration
• Experience with Chef or other configuration management tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills
