Responsibilities
WMAQ-TV is the NBCUniversal- owned television station in Chicago
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Reporters cover news, as assigned by WMAQ-TV News Department managers and report the facts on the station’s newscasts, recorded programs and/ordering other live broadcasts, either in the studio or out on location
Reporters edit or supervise the editing of video used in conjunction with news stories and programs
Write scripts, lead-ins, cues and bridges as requested by supervisor
Make appearances before social and civic groups, schools and colleges on behalf of the station
Fill-in Anchor when needed and perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum 5 years of on-air reporting television news experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a broadcast-related field
Willing and able to work weekends and other shifts as needed and assigned

Must be willing to work in Chicago, IL
Must be a union member in good standing with AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) or join if not now a member
Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of the Chicago area and Chicago-area news
Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak and write fluently is desired
Well versed in a wide variety of subjects to include local, state and national affairs
Ability to communicate on-air effectively
Ability to write television news copy combining the script with pictorial content
Ability to edit video
Ability to communicate with and work well with people under constant pressure of deadlines
Ability to make sound News judgments and decisions regarding news stories with the highest integrity and ability to verify facts and information
Excellent computer skills
