The Research Intern is responsible for assisting the Gannett Corporate Research team to enable Editorial, Marketing, product and corporate strategy by assessing market landscapes, competitive analyses, identifying consumer/audience trends and building action plans. Secondarily, the Research Intern will assist with advertising sales projects when required.
The purpose of the internship experience is to provide opportunities where college (undergrad and grad) students can develop, grow and become the next generation of talent for Gannett. This program offers mentoring, networking and real-world experience in a fun, entrepreneurial atmosphere. Job Requirements:
• 1-2 years of experience in an individual contributor role related to analyzing data, research, customer service, and/or administrative work
• Strong interest in marketing, research, consumer behavior, digital analytics, news-journalism and media
• Strong researcher and strategic thinker
• Work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong multi-tasker and problem solver
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Flexible, intellectually curious and eager to learn
• Must have ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions
• Experience with reporting and process creation preferred
• 4 year Bachelor’s degree completed (or in current pursuit of obtaining a degree) Technical Skills
• Strong PC and proficient in web based applications
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Database experience preferred
• Excellent proofreading and grammatical skills
Job Responsibilities:
• Collect business information and analyze data
• Monitor and collect business, media audience, and competitive intelligence using Gannett licensed research tools, as well as Internet research.
• Work with various research and analytics teams across Gannett to identify and organize data needs, format data for inclusion in various analysis tools and perform analyses
• Stay abreast of industry news, competition and consumer trends
