DESCRIPTION:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Liaison with Marketing & Promotions, Sales and other departments as required.
• Oversee the daily operation/music scheduling talent requirements of station.
• Insure that station formatics are executed properly and as devised by Program Director.
• Schedule music via A-Ware’s MusicMaster Real Time software and run daily/weekly analysis of software/schedules.
• Assist with creating Contest/Promotional/Imaging copy & Themed special programming campaigns.
• Maintain the stations’ music libraries and recorded archives, including recorded programs and concerts, and oversee the dubbing of all music content media.
• Coordinating live on-air and streaming music performances and local concert tapings
• Host and program live fill-in and weekend air shifts
• Assist with the creation of Screeners for Perceptual & Music Test studies.
• Secure music required for broadcast.
• Continually re-examine the MusicMaster software to insure that all pertinent data is listed for each song and that all fields are complete and correct.
• Attend music sorts/perceptual presentations and actively participate in brainstorming sessions.
• Presence at live music performances, minimum 2 per week
• Manage relationships with record companies, concert promoters, local music venues, industry publications and Internet vendors who compose editorial about the industry & station.
• Overseeing department internship program
• Protect the company’s FCC license.
• Perform all other tasks perceived, assigned, and/or required that contribute to the smooth running of the department and to the achievement of departmental and station goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Minimum 3 years Program Director/APD/Music Director and on-air experience with a minimum 3 years Top 50 market experience scheduling music via A-Ware’s MusicMaster or RCS Selector software program required. Extensive knowledge of various forms of music, most notably adult-oriented contemporary rock of the past 40+ years, as well as other related forms, including blues, reggae, Americana, etc., and familiarity with current-day adult-oriented, alternative/indie rock artists. Knowledge of FCC rules, geographical demographics and familiarity with broadcast area preferred. Must be self-motivated and possess ability to work autonomously. Ability to run broadcast facility board and operate EAS hardware required. Proficiency at Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and other office applications, plus Pro Tools, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media outlets and scheduling programs, including Hootsuite. High school diploma required; college degree in related field preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
