Responsibilities
ROLE SUMMARY:
NBCUniversal is looking for a Senior Director of Strategic Insights & Analytics. This new role, within the advertising sales organization, will focus on building proprietary research and insights assets. The ideal candidate has a demonstrable track record of building new, proprietary intellectual property around media and advertising. Using a combination of original thinking, industry benchmarking, and deep collaboration, this leader will enhance NBCU’s capabilities in primary research. We are looking for a proficiency that will affect the short term while also building for the future.
Additionally, the Senior Director will also work closely with the marketing and PR teams to amplify insights and research in the marketplace. This will require close partnership with those teams to surface new projects early, craft a playbook for activating customer touchpoints, articulate the narrative, and ensure accuracy of external materials.
This is a superb role for inquisitive individuals with a strong affinity for collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving. Enthusiasm about understanding media habits, consumer behaviors and viewing trends is essential; however, just as important is the ability to get things done.
This role will report to the SVP of Strategic Insights & Analytics
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with the entire ad sales research organization to craft the best research design and analytic output, meeting stated business and learning goals
• Serve as the methodology expert for primary research initiatives, which includes both consulting on projects as well as managing projects
• Establish relationships with sales leaders to identify insight gaps and generate strategies for addressing them
• Synthesize insights across the vertical-focused primary research for the benefit of the entire portfolio
• Develop a strategy for proprietary evergreen assets: how best to use/enhance existing assets across the company or how best to build new assets
• Through thoughtful and robust analysis, find the story in the data and collateralize the information into modular sales materials
• Focus on unmet insight needs within emerging businesses (e.g., Content Studio), working with other researchers to craft solutions that fuel the sales cycle
• Collaborate with analytics and digital research teams to find opportunities for extending primary research insights into digital behavioral data and other big data sources
• Work with research partners to ensure adherence to industry best practices, stated timelines, contracted deliverables and high data quality
• Evaluate research vendors’ capabilities and assemble an ecosystem of partners with expertise to fully cover the needs of the organization
• Work with the marketing and PR teams to amplify the impact of NBCU’s research, participating in the planning process, providing ongoing visibility into the slate of research projects, and serving as the initial research point of contact for the marketing and PR teams
