Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is looking to fill a key role in recruitment and news operations -- this will be a newsroom role reporting to the Editor, News Operations. We are looking for a recruiter who has experience in the media and news industry to help identify, engage, and attract top talent, and manage the administrative process. Newsroom leaders with a strong track record of hiring great editors, reporters and visual journalists are also encouraged to apply.
Position Statement:
The individual will work with News Operations and hiring managers in the newsroom to support seamless activities across the full life cycle - recruiting, sourcing, assessing, hiring and transactional administration and activities.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Develop recruiting strategies, understand talent movement and demand in the market
• Timely and cost effective fulfillment of all open requisitions with high quality talent.
• Reviewing candidate database in alignment with the news and HR strategy, market analysis, and ongoing outreach activities.
• Cultivate strong consultative relationships with senior editors, hiring managers and human resources generalists. Know The Wall Street Journal business and our competitors.
• Partnering with hiring managers to screen and shortlist candidates for interviews
• Collaborating with hiring managers to interview and select candidates with consideration of diversity, market, quality and core metrics
• Participating in ‘wash up’ decision-making sessions and offer transactional administration and activities
Knowledge/Experience:
• Ensuring recruiting practices are in compliance with Country/State guidelines and internal processes
• Continuous improvement against core metrics, e.g. quality of hire, cost-per hires, employee referrals.
• 2-5 years of Talent Acquisition experience in a best-in-class organization.
• Experience designing and executing social media, and employment branding strategies.
• Adept with using a variety of recruiting technologies to source talent.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, in a fast paced business environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and consulting skills. Ability to interact with all levels.
• Analytical skills and ability to manage various metrics preferred
Internal/External Customers:
• Externally, this will include networking, engaging via social media, or organizing events. Includes University relations, professional associations, or agencies.
• Internally, active participation in talent planning, and cultivation of employee referrals.
