Go all in on digital story telling as the next member of the shreveporttimes.com news team. We’re recruiting to fill a position that in the past we might have described as general assignment reporting – a description that falls far short in today's digital media environment.
You must be a newshound, writer and videographer. You must understand story in the classic sense, as plot, character development, conflict and resolution. You must tell every story in multiple dimensions, from words to video. You must understand that creating narrative and multimedia content is only half the job, and that the other half is being entrepreneurial in assertively putting your content in front of consumers via social channels. You must have experience in social media and have a strong social voice. You must permit consumer feedback, including metrics, to guide decisions. And you must be flexible.
Yes, we expect a lot. The changing media environment requires no less. But we’re willing to experiment, to try new approaches, to risk in pursuit of gratifying news and information consumers. The Shreveport Times | shreveporttimes.com is a Gannett media company and is part of the USA Today Network. We work from a newly remodeled office atop a downtown office tower, with a 360-degree view of our market and state-of-the-art digital storytelling tools. Shreveport and Bossier City, which anchor our market, are in northwest Louisiana, with many opportunities for outdoor activities and a thriving arts and entertainment scene. The local LA Film Prize, offering $50,000 to a winning film short, has attracted many budding filmmakers. We’re an easy drive from Dallas, New Orleans and Houston.
