Group Nine Media’s content laboratory, Alchemy at Group Nine Media, is responsible for all facets of native ad campaigns, including ideating and creating custom content, executing all supporting media, and performing research and audience analysis to optimize performance.
We’re seeking an Assistant Photo Editor to join our team and help us create the most compelling custom content campaigns to be found anywhere on the Web. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, hands-on visual expert who thrives in a creative and fast paced environment. Additionally, they would be interested in bringing innovation to high volume photographic workflows; capable of improving the quality of imagery while managing to bottom line operational costs; willing to take direction and collaborate with a variety of individuals; and excited to work inside of a creative organization that consistently presents new experiences and challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to learn the inner workings of a publishing agency while building a diverse portfolio of content. This role reports to the Photography Director.
Responsibilities:
• Act as lead photo researcher for all content requiring sourced imagery from various stock agencies, public domain, venues/tourism boards in addition to non traditional stock resources
• Deliver photo research that demonstrates strong, compelling storytelling and thoughtful visual flow and pacing
• Track project deliverables, deadlines, and budgets while maintaining strong communication between teams to ensure process and delivery
• Assist in photo shoot pre-production needs: studio management, location scouting, prop/merchandise/equipment sourcing
• Adhere to and maintain photography style guides
• Interact directly with Photography Director to receive visual guidance and feedback
• Assist with photo department administrative duties as needed
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in photography or related field
• 3 + years in a publishing photo department or photography related field
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite 6 (particularly Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge)
• Familiarity with Digital Asset Management Systems
• Well versed in image copyright law and usage/licensing agreements
• Proficient at locating strong photography that adheres to the appropriate brand voice
• Ability to follow creative direction, adapt to changing priorities and critical deadlines
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines and independently problem solve
• Excel at collaborative process of creating imagery in a team environment
• Ability to tap into cross disciplinary skills to bring our brand’s voice further into mobile, social media and experiential platforms
