The K-12 Math team is currently recruiting for an experienced Math Developmental Editor for a contract role. We're looking for someone with a passion for learning and mathematics and with the vision to bring innovative ideas to life. The Math Developmental Editor is responsible for developing new K-12 Math resources for school division. The Math Developmental Editor is accountable for the overall quality and accuracy of content and must ensure that the content reflects the instructional design and product profile. The Math Developmental Editor will work with other editorial staff, Project Management (CMPS), Design, and New Media to ensure all aspects of the product meet market needs.
Responsibilities:
• Edit manuscripts
◦ Ensure accuracy and appropriateness for the market and its curriculum requirements
◦ Work with authors and reviewers
◦ Manage text and photo permissions as required
◦ Prepare final manuscript for production
• Deliver quality print and digital products on time and on budget
• Consult on a regular basis with managing editor and stakeholders to resolve issues with content, authors and reviewers to ensure overall efficient project management
• Work with the digital strategy and media team to implement new digital processes during the publishing process and maintain knowledge of and expertise in current and future print and digital applications used in the school market
• Liaise with other development editors and project managers to ensure consistency across units
• Create models/prototypes for new products, as articulated by the managing editor and publisher, in collaboration with authors, consultants, and internal publishing team
• Maintain contact with the marketplace through visits to schools and classrooms and attending relevant conferences
• Maintain familiarity with content authoring tools
Qualifications
• Completion of a university degree (Math/Engineering)
• 5+ years of developmental editing experience in educational publishing (Math)
• Teaching experience is an asset
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
• Proficient with computers; including Microsoft Word, Excel, G-Mail, Chrome, and Adobe Acrobat
• Proficient or ability to become proficient in content/learning management systems
• Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented and strong ability to multi-task
• Adaptable problem-solver and team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical and project management skills
• Ability to work independently
• Time management skills, ability to prioritize and balance the needs of the projects to meet deadlines
