DESCRIPTION:
We are searching for an experienced digital marketing expert to manage customer acquisition for the newly launched direct-to-consumer entertainment service, Smithsonian Earth. We are looking for someone who is passionate about media, has strong analytical skills and is interested in working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
The Temporary Manager of Acquisition Marketing is responsible for driving customer acquisition and conversion efforts for Smithsonian Networks’ commercial-free subscription video streaming service, Smithsonian Earth. This role will lead the department’s efforts to execute focused acquisition marketing initiatives to reach aggressive subscriber growth targets. S/he must be a creative marketer but also data-driven, highly analytical, and ROI-focused with a strong track record of driving meaningful growth and engagement, ideally for a direct-to-consumer digital subscription service.
This is a position that will demand both a strong marketing sense and solid multi-tasking skills to achieve key business objectives. The ideal candidate is a team player who likes to work collaboratively, is detail oriented, and possesses an enthusiasm for growing and engaging a subscriber base. To achieve the above goals, this position will work closely with cross-functional teams from throughout the digital media team.
• Plan and execute acquisition marketing campaigns to drive subscriber growth across direct to consumer performance-based online marketing channels with a primary focus on creating, managing, and optimizing Facebook ad campaigns and Google AdWords SEM campaigns
• Conceptualize and execute online campaigns to effectively target audiences to increase reach and engagement to drive free trial sign-ups and paid subscriber growth, with a focus on leveraging Facebook Ads Manager and Google AdWords.
• Focus on developing strategies for effective lead generation and subsequent conversion through remarketing efforts and nurturing programs to maintain and grow leads and move them through the funnel
• Execute plans to optimize response rates and media budget by actively improving online metrics across key sources of business (testing marketing variables including offer, copy/messaging, targeting and segmentation, and creative).
• Manage the paid media acquisition marketing budget and subscriber forecasting, working closely with the product and editorial team to analyze campaign expenses and trends.
• Work with editorial and product teams to launch and test landing pages, creative and new ideas for acquisition campaigns
• Leverage learnings from channel optimization and multivariate testing to iterate and improve acquisition efforts
• Work with analytics lead and product manager to track and report on KPIs for all acquisition channels
• Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with the social, editorial, marketing, product, tech and operations teams to ensure successful execution of marketing programs
• Work with editorial and marketing teams to assure that tactics are following design standards and web best practices to ensure high online engagement with our creative through the purchase flow, from the up-front marketing, landing page, order form, thank you page and confirmation emails
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-4 years+ experience in online acquisition marketing. Experience with direct-to-consumer marketing of an online subscription service or product
• driving paid revenue highly preferred
• Strong data analysis capabilities, with proven expertise related to customer segmentation and modeling
• Extensive experience in executing performance-based campaigns within Facebook Ads Manager, as well as other paid social platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram
• Experience in managing performance based SEM campaigns in Google AdWords
• Demonstrated focus on end-to-end customer experience, increasing the likelihood that prospects become customers and remain customers
• Proven, successful track record of increasing acquisition, nurturing, and conversions while managing against aggressive CPL, CPA, and revenue goals
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, self-start, contribute under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Highly organized, creative and critical thinker. Self-motivated and results oriented with a high regard for attention to detail
• Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with ability to take initiative in a challenging, fast-paced environment of multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment
• Expert written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with entertainment & media is a bonus
