Responsibilities
SUMMARY
Ensuring that company financial statements are in line with management’s requirements and industry standards is part of the job description of a staff accountant. Working under the direction of the assistant controller, the staff accountant assists in the preparation of financial statements that meet standard accounting principles as well as state and federal regulations.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
A staff accountant oversees general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Its responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. Duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Participate in financial standards setting
Provide input into department’s goal setting process
Prepare financial close deliverables according to schedule
Plan, assign and review staff’s work
Support month-end and year-end close process
Suggest process improvements and assist in the implementation internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Liaise with our FP&A to ensure completeness of posted transactions
Prepares General Ledger reconciliations (Accruals, Prepaid, Deferred Revenue and Expenses, Amortization)
Prepares journal entries following the company’s best practices
Supports external and internal audits
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Minimum of three years of GL accounting experience
