WIRED is looking for a bright and savvy individual with a fierce attention to detail, creative resourcefulness, and an unflappable disposition to manage the business aspects of the art department as well as relationships with our artists. Qualified candidates should have an interest in publishing, experience with budgets, and the ability to shift direction at a moment’s notice.
In this role you will work with our Creative Director, Director of Photography, and Managing Editor to align budgets and maintain accurate accounting, execution of contracts, and rights management for our commissioned and licensed creative assets across our print and digital creative outlets.
This position is based in San Francisco, and pay is commensurate with experience. Condé Nast is an equal opportunity workplace.
Successful candidates:
• Will have keen attention to detail and strong follow-up skills with the ability to proactively identify and address problems quickly and independently
• Will be assertive on behalf of the brand
• Must be a flexible and strategic thinker with strong organizational, project and time management skills
• Have experience with conception and management of budgets
• Ability to work independently while simultaneously taking direction
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Are adaptable to evolving systems
• Can derive deep satisfaction from working with numbers and spreadsheets
• Desire ownership of the role and ability to independently manage multiple-task projects on deadline
Desired experience:
• Competent at creating spreadsheets in both Excel and Google Sheets
• Some experience using Filemaker Pro or similar programs
• Experience working on contracts and with a legal department is a plus
• Must have proven track record of maintaining confidentiality
• Interest in design and photography, and an aesthetic sensibility that pairs well with WIRED’s, are all a plus but not essential
