Finance Analyst, TV Production (12 month contract)

Overview
SPE in EMEA has a significant line of business in the area of International TV Productions which can be divided into two distinct areas: Joint Ventures and wholly owned business units.
The London based TV Production Finance team are currently looking for a Finance Analyst to join them on a 12 month fixed term basis to be responsible for the financial and management accounting of these TV Production companies.
Ideal candidates will be currently studying towards their accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA) with typically 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role and previous experience of working in a fast paced TV Production environment. Strong level of Excel knowledge is also required, and previous experience with SAP and Access Dimension is desirable.
Core Responsibilities of the Finance Analyst will include:
• Manage the upcoming audit process for the 4-5 UK TV Production entities. Prepare financial statements in line with UK GAP, prepare and review the audit file and be the main client contact for external auditors
• Manage and prepare participations reporting including liaising with Business Affairs and Participations Team in Los Angeles
• Assist FD in winding down and closure of two of production entities including transfer of assets and association participations processes to owning entity
• Working & communication with UK TV Production staff, and employees in the shared service center, on all finance and accounting issues
• Prepare and review monthly management reporting packages for senior management, including balance sheet reconciliations with explanations for variances to flash, budget and prior month
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns for all TV Production companies in area of responsibility
• Raise invoices in line with signed production agreements and being diligent in following up payment in a timely manner
• Be familiar with production cost managers and liaise with the production accountant to fully identify costs to completion and calculate accruals
• Act as the interface between two accounting systems ensuring that data is downloaded correctly and then uploaded in line with UK GAAP via SAP journals with auditable supporting documentation
• Manage system and process improvements where changes are required or efficiency can be improved
• Various reporting to Los Angeles
• Provide financial support to assist Head of Finance with projects, such as budget preparation, as required
• Other ad hoc project tasks as they arise
Candidate Requirements
• Studying for professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA)
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to a high standard of English, along with excellent analytical and organisational skills and attention to detail
• Possess a well organised and efficient approach combined with the capability to follow through work on own initiative to completion
• Experience working in a fast paced TV Production environment preferable
• Possess the ability to influence at all levels and gain immediate creditability across the business
• Flexible approach as well as possessing the ability to cope well under pressure, multi-task, prioritise effectively and efficiently to ensure work is carried out accurately, in a timely manner
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and make administrative decisions based on a broad understanding of relevant policies and/or operational requirements, while also knowing when to escalate issues higher
• Establish and confidently cultivate positive working relationships internally across departments and externally
• Prioritise effectively and efficiently to ensure work is carried out accurately whilst adhering to deadlines
• Highly proficient and proven level of IT skills including Excel, Access Dimensions and SAP
• Knowledge of SAP desirable
• Knowledge of current UK GAAP and US GAAP desirable
• The ability to demonstrate initiative and a creative approach to all aspects of the role is a must,
• Strong team player with strong interpersonal, management and communication skills and the ability to forge solid working relationships
