The Knoxville News Sentinel, a USA TODAY NETWORK Co., is looking for an Sales Event Coordinator. The Sales Event Coordinator will serve as an Events coordinator, for leading and creating community/company events, this person must foster strong working relationships with key internal and external partners to develop, coordinate and execute event opportunities. This person will be responsible for handling events that increase revenue, drive audience and increase our stature in the community. Must have high digital acumen, an ability to clearly articulate our strong value proposition, have “challenger” skills, a hunger to win, a commitment to client excellence and to delivering results
In this role, you will:
• Coordinate local events and company partnerships including events.
• Development budgets for events.
• Research and assist in selling and securing major sponsorships.
• Secure and manage contracts and insurance requirements for events/vendors.
• Negotiate and secure contracts for facilities.
• Coordinate volunteer activity and work flow during events.
• Assist in developing media plans and in-kind sponsorships for events.
• Assist the Regional Marketing Director development of new event opportunities.
• Assist with implementation of other corporate and regional marketing plans as needed.
• Use social media to promote events; could involve TV interviews
• Develop and execute the revenue drivers for each event
• Develop sales and promotional materials
• Manage expenses
• Involvement in short and long term planning
Here's what you need:
• 2 years of newspaper production experience or similar in agency or production environment.
• Requires a BS/BA in communication, marketing, or related field, or equivalent.
• Generally, 2 to 3 years of related experience.
• Proven track record in event marketing.
• Ability to coordinate work flow of multiple facets of event marketing (internal and external).
• Must attend and participate in partnership events and or projects.
• Ability to negotiate contracts with third party such as facilities, vendors, entertainers.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects at once while adhering to deadlines.
• Must have a relatively high degree of mental acuity and social skills to successfully interact with coworkers, business community and the general public, in a fast paced environment.
• Must be detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and able to react positively to change.
