Responsibilities
Job Summary/Purpose: NBC News is seeking an associate producer to assist in all aspects of production of long form content.
Job Duties
• Contribute to production of original content for air, including story development
• Aid in extensive editorial research
• Conduct pre-interviews and on-camera interviews
• Participate in shooting, scripting and editing, as directed
• Produce show segments, as needed, under the direction of the Executive Producer and Senior Producer
• Coordinate with technical, operations staff and external resources
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Must have at least 5 years’ editorial production experience for a network or cable operation
• Must be proficient in Outlook and iNews
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, History, or a related field of study
Additional Job Requirements
• Must be willing to work in New York
• Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
• Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples -- if available, include a web address when you submit your resume
Desired Qualifications
• DV shooting experience, including previous work with a DSLR
• Ability to light and shoot sit down, multi-camera interviews
• Ability to shoot both breaking news and documentary style b-roll
• Ability to edit with non-linear editing systems, specifically AVID
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
• Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills and editorial judgment
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
• Knowledge of NBC News Policies, Guidelines and Practices
