Job Summary:
Responsible for the implementation of the overall technical vision and direction of the Engineering department. Implements business standards, goals, strategies, and objectives (within assigned areas) that are competitive with industry standards and strives to arrive at those goals. Monitors and assists in creating annual and quarterly budgets. Develops and leads a team of dynamic engineering staff and assures work performance is in adherence to company and industry standards. Acts as a technical resource to management across the department and lateral departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Understanding our Video on Demand delivery system, IP delivery network.
• Capacity planning for node segmentation including , on demand and High speed data.
• Understanding of optical designs, including FSA, DWDM, fiber deep, and full spectrum designs.
• Support of our MDU group to provide designs and feedback.
• Understanding of, CRAN, IBONE, INETS, Transport.
• Responsible for maintaining our headend and hub Facilities.
• Understanding of , HVAC, power distribution systems. Equipment nameplate requirements.
• General knowledge of current building codes, city and county building procedures.
• Marinating our vendor relationships for engineering, both equipment and contractor.
• Maintaining INET customer expectations.
• Maintaining installation timelines for metro E customers.
• Understanding of metro E workflow from initial customer contact to final billing.
• Provide good working relationships with other engineering departments.
• Understanding of RF designs, core combining.
• Sweep and nodes setup procedures.
• Ensure a good working relationship with Technical Operations, supporting customer based goals.
Core Responsibilities:
• Assists in creating quarterly and annual budget and monitors and approves all expenditures and capital projects associated with the Engineering department.
-Plans and facilitates activities related to the preparation of capital and operating budgets and forecasts of operations.
• Communicates department strategies and objectives effectively within the department and across the organization. Delegates responsibilities and oversees operations to ensure strategies and objectives are being met in an organized and timely fashion.
• Monitors overall work processes and standard procedures to ensure performance is to company and industry standards. Stays knowledgeable of competition and important emerging technologies and standards.
• Establishes and develops staff through ongoing training programs, operational procedures, communication skills, policies, technical skills, etc.
• Sets the reporting standards and then works with the Manager of Engineering to analyze reports for such issues as schedule completions for testing, spend levels for NRE costs, yearly license costs, etc.
• Works with staff to recruit and retain top engineering talent.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Specification:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
Engineering
Generally requires 10+ years related experience
Additional Requirements:
• Collaborative environment, supporting the need to ensure reliable product delivery.
• Knowledge of Net Promoter System.
