Are you a self-proclaimed organizational genius with a knack for juggling several projects without losing your cool? If so, then come and join our team of editors!
Hearst Digital Media is looking for a Deputy Editor for BestProducts.com, Hearst’s rapidly growing product review site. The Deputy Editor should be a web-savvy generalist who is a pro when it comes to assigning and editing content. This editor (read: rockstar!) will top-edit content across 10 different verticals including: parenting, fashion, food/drink, beauty, fitness, home, men’s style, travel, lifestyle, and experiences.
The ideal candidate should be as excited providing feedback on best video games as they are editing smart home appliances and stylish swimsuit coverups. This person must also be a skilled leader that can bring out an editor’s creativity and is incredibly savvy working in a CMS. (Been there, done that!) Experience managing a team is a must with a track record of being AWESOME.
Job Responsibilities:
-Own digital content strategy with the site director, overseeing daily content production and managing longer edit projects
-Assign and edit content strategically, keeping social and search initiatives at the forefront (You know the difference between a shareable story idea and a search-friendly one)
-Manage the editorial team and use performance management to set goals and provide coaching
-Top edit a mix of product reviews, in-depth articles, and newsletters in a fast-paced digital environment making decisions based on past content performance
-Oversee the newsletter and partner sweepstakes to further grow our traffic and brand awareness
-Identify coverage opportunities and trends for BestProducts.com (What don’t we have on the site that we should??? Tell us!)
-Keep an eye on traffic and analytics to make sure the team is hitting big picture traffic goals and help team prioritize updating top-performing content
-Support the site’s rapid growth and content expansion
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree
-Minimum five years experience working in a fast-paced digital environment, with a focus on top-editing and assigning content
-Must have strong leadership skills with a talent for managing people (Your past teams love you!)
-Experience coaching an editorial team to meet weekly/monthly production and traffic goals
-Proven ability to manage hectic daily content deadlines as well as cross-department edit projects
-Proven passion for digital media and well-versed in a content management system
-Should have a collaborative spirit and be energetic and approachable (Quick drive-by questions at your desk are totally fine if they solve the problem faster!)
-Versed in using Omniture, Chartbeat, and/or Google Analytics (And you’re not afraid to use ‘em!)
