Summary
This role is accountable for the implementation of global reward strategy and for providing advice around all compensation and benefits policies, processes, tools, etc., ensuring consistency through an alignment to group ways of working and with localizations by exception.
Main activities/responsibilities
Strategy and design:
• Provide input for the Reward Center of Excellence (CoE) from the relevant geographies, including operationalising strategy and overseeing day-to-day management responsibilities
• Partner with HR and the business to deliver the global compensation strategy, policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategy, in particular across the following activities: pay scales, job evaluation, market positioning and compensation performance criteria, and providing insight of how these global policies will be applicable in the Geography/ Line of Business (LOB).
Delivery and compliance:
• Oversee ownership of Geography/ LOB specific compensation policies, processes, tools, etc., ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance
• Oversee the annual compensation cycle, Incentive programs and Variable Pay programs in the relevant geography/ LOB, taking responsibility for local market adjustments
• Provide specialist advice in relation to local bargaining agreements and negotiations with works councils, unions, etc., where needed
• Provide insight and expert knowledge to local generalists for expert advice on customer queries, relating to reward
• Understand how specific employee groups within the business unit(s) and region(s) compare to market pay structures
• Provide input in the recommendation of appropriate compensation strategy for new and evolving organisation structures within the relevant Geography/ LOB
• Communicate the strategic intent of all global compensation programs / initiatives to the Geography / LOB Reward and HR community
• Manage the execution of reward communications / training towards the business
• Manage the compensation impact of Mergers and Acquisitions in the relevant Geography / LOB
• Advise Operations on necessary payroll and tax implications of compensation changes, ensuring all key stakeholders are informed
• Input into regulatory compliance and reporting processes and activities relating to compensation programs, including liaising with finance on employment tax compliance
Performance and continuous improvement:
• Deliver on agreed KPIs and be accountable for service efficiency and quality
• Measure program effectiveness at geography, country and LOB level and take appropriate action including providing feedback to global
• Keep appraised of leading practices, monitor and evaluate future legislation and market trends and consider innovative solutions, to best serve the business
• Identify opportunities for and manage the transition of transactional support activities to HR Operations
Qualifications, experience and person specification
• At least 8 years' experience in a reward business partner role
• Expert knowledge of global Compensation program design and implementation as well as general knowledge of other Total Rewards services (Benefits, Global Mobility, etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of global governance guidelines, compliance and regulatory requirements in the geography
• Business acumen to ensure programs are practical and can drive real business value and commercial sense
• Ability to collaborate with business partners and business stakeholders to provide specialised advice and collecting input for design and delivery of reward programs
• Strong understanding of global industry best practice and market trends
• Project Execution: Ability to plan for, manage, and successfully complete multiple complex projects simultaneously and in budget
• Global perspective: Experience of operating within a truly global environment and able to demonstrate international cultural agility and experience of building and managing strong, diverse, global teams
• Communication: Powerful interpersonal skills, strong social antennae and the ability to use these to influence outcomes. Able to adapt style and approach based on context.
