Pearson is seeking a superstar User Experience Designer to join our growing team in the Denver area. We are charged with developing next generation digital learning experiences for students and teachers. In this role, you will use your strong visual and interaction design skills to collaboratively create the look and feel and UI components for the Next generation of Pearson’s digital learning solutions which elevate the teaching and learning experience like never before.

Responsibilities:
• Define the next generation user experience and visual design of our digital products and online applications.
• Work with other designers to co-create, develop, and apply the Pearson style guide as it relates to our next generation products.
• Work across teams to drive alignment on common UI controls and visual design elements.
• Collaborate with user experience designers to deliver compelling designs to market that satisfy user goals and enhance learning and teaching.
• Evangelize the role of user experience and visual design across the company
• Make user experience design recommendations based on usability standards and industry best practices.
• Mentor junior staff on visual design principles and processes.
• Successfully present your designs to a cross-functional product team to elicit constructive feedback and actively participate in others’ design reviews.
Qualifications
Desired Skills & Experience
• At least five years work experience with application UX and visual design is preferred in a technology-centered company.
• Experience in the educational field a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design or related discipline required, Masters degree a plus.
• Embody the work ethic and personality that thrives in a fast-paced culture with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and working with super-smart colleagues from numerous departments and locations
• Working knowledge of common design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Fireworks, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, MS Office, Visio, Axure, Balsamiq and FileMaker
• Solid visual and interaction design skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others across the organization
• Fluent in usability standards and design heuristics and responsive design techniques
• Familiarity with user-centered research, such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews
• Ability to successfully design in an Agile software development environment
• Familiarity with technical issues around web development and ability to work constructively with development teams, including but not limited to understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML
• Experience in designing for tablet and smartphone
