Open Access Books Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the Open Access (OA) Books Marketing Manager will be responsible for raising awareness of the Springer Nature open access books programme in order to grow author base, visibility and usage.
Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a strong, results focused marketing plan which utilizes offline and digital tactics, this role requires strong planning, organizational and excellent communication skills.
The role is office based but may include occasional travel to conferences or other company locations.
Responsibilities:
• Strategic planning, execution and analysis of the OA books programme to grow proposals
• To develop measurable campaign objectives with scalable, repeatable, campaigns and reporting
• Build awareness, visibility and usage of the Springer Nature OA books programme through multiple digital and offline tactics
• Educate researchers on the benefits of open access and the funding that may be available to them
• To manage, analyse and report on ROI of marketing campaign activities
• Forecasting, campaign costing and work within agreed budgets
• Deliver an internal marketing communications plan which provides key stakeholders with the tools they need to promote the OA books programme
• Key relationship management with authors, researchers, funders / societies and institutions as required
• Key relationship management with relevant internal stakeholders – i.e. publishing, strategy, editorial, marketing and communications teams
• Work closely with Springer Research Group marketing to ensure optimal marketing of OA books programme
• Attend conferences and events, engaging with customers and end-users when needed
Qualifications, Skills, Experience:
• University degree, preferable in business / marketing or a similar qualification
• Strong understanding and proven experience of working within books marketing
• Knowledge/ understanding of open access
• Solid experience of working in global teams and understanding regional variations and the impact on customer requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German as well as presentation skills
• Copywriting and proofreading skills with a high attention to detail
• Digital and social media marketing skills
• Organized; self-motivated; able to balance priorities; able to demonstrate a calm and professional approach when working to deadlines: a can do attitude
• Excellent time and organizational management skills
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and adapt to changing situations quickly and effectively
• Excellent analytical skills, experience of campaign monitoring, analysis, and reporting, able to set measurable and achievable targets
• Global awareness of region/country marketing channels and their effectiveness
• Proficiency in all Microsoft office software
Desirable:
• Relevant marketing or professional qualification
• Ability to use a wide range of tools to deliver effective marketing campaigns and assess data
• Analytics and reporting and demonstrating ROI of marketing activity
