DESCRIPTION:
The Video QA Engineer (VQAE) will be an integral part of the Video Technology team, working closely with video engineers and the Product Manager to insure that Video Tech products are stable and performing. It will be the VQAE’s responsibility to analyze functional requirements, translate them into test cases, and prepare detailed test plans that will include strategies for application, system, regression and stress testing, employing knowledge of existing Video Tech frameworks. The VQAE will work with Video Tech engineers to develop and utilize test harnesses, lead test efforts, and own the investigation and direction of automation tools to help deliver quality Live and VOD content services across a range of Browsers, Mobile Apps and IP connected devices.
The VQAE will also be responsible for executing the prepared test plans by following the steps in the test cases, navigating through the application, and recording defects. The VQAE will need to work with the Product Manager to understand stakeholder requirements and facilitate user acceptance testing, as well as working closely with site-side QA teams to test video in the customer’s test environments.
In addition, the VQAE will be expected to perform production release smoke testing as needed; perform post-implementation testing for production issues and patches as required; provide benchmarks for video performance as required by customers; recommend, develop, and communicate quality assurance processes and procedures to our distributed QA partners.
About the Team
The Video Technology team develops industry leading online and mobile video delivery systems and IP for CBS.com, CBSSports.com, CNET, Gamespot.com, and the entire suite of CBS Interactive sites. The team is responsible for the delivery of premium content to millions of people every day. We set company-wide video standards and help internal business units integrate the video delivery stack into their specific online products. Additionally, the team serves as the company’s information resource on current and future trends in digital video. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in doing high-visibility, mission-critical work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Computer Science, MIS, business, or equivalent education/training/experience
At least three years in software development, support, or related IT experience, with at least 2 years demonstrated functional QA experience (requirements analysis, test case creation, test execution, regression testing, and test case management)
Knowledge of Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing systems and associated testing methodologies
Experience working with Agile teams and iterative release schedules
Experience working in multi-tiered dev/test/prod environments
Demonstrated ability to successfully perform software testing across multiple, complex systems with custom and third-party applications
Demonstrated experience in the development of QA process and procedures
Experience using network proxies and other tools to debug client-side applications
Experience with test management and defect tracking systems such as Visual Studio, Jira, TestRail, etc.
Proficient analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated proactive customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to understand and translate technical concepts
Demonstrated teamwork skills as well as an ability to function independently
Meticulous attention to detail, organization and clear communication
Must successfully pass a background check.
Preferred:
Experience with online video delivery and knowledge of video ecosystem
Working knowledge of client/server, SOA architecture
Experience working with offsite testing teams
