Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Editorial Director will oversee the creative positioning of our branded content strategy across four sites: today.com, cnbc.com, msnbc.com, and NBC News. As a creative pioneer with a passion for developing unique partner solutions, the ED will specialize in ideating on innovative new content formats and subjects, creating engaging, entertaining and informative content that marries NBC’s publishing ethos with a brand’s purpose and mission. Reporting to the VP of Branded Content, the ED will have expertise in both hard news and lifestyle content, manage our talented team of content producers, create a robust network of freelance creatives, and leverage editorial relationships with each of our sites.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead creative ideation for partners, making their brands newsworthy for our premium news audience
Develop editorial perspective for RFPs and original proposals that upholds NBC News properties editorial values as well as incorporating client goals
Oversee all editorial operations for the branded offering including pre-sale ideation and post-sale execution
Manage, recruit, and train branded content staff for NBC Branded Content Unit and oversee the hiring and management of freelance content producers
Build campaigns that target a variety of client KPIs (including brand awareness, purchase intent, and consumer relevance) while hitting audience metrics
Oversee the creation of storyboards, maintain editorial calendars for campaigns, and lead the branded content project manager to control schedules and enforce deadlines
Interface directly with clients’ marketers, brand managers, and social media teams
Leverage data insights from campaigns to both create more powerful content and tell a campaign success story
Assist in determining sales and edit product needs in order to help launch key category sales strategy
Develop innovative ideas for category anchors and partner with the VP to ignite sales team momentum
Work with the VP to develop best practices for proposals for RFPs and advertisers at all spend levels
Partner with sales and sales marketing teams on the key tenants of messaging, pitching, marketing materials and presentations
Help lead key account sales meetings from an idea creation perspective
Build individual brand equity for each of NBCU’s sites
Liaise with editorial to shape revenue generating custom ideas
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
At least ten (10) years experience in digital creative consumer categoriesroles of ascending responsibility
Proven track record of developing creative advertising and native solutions for major brands across a variety of
True and deep experience managing editorial, video, and design teams
Experience launching new digital platforms or products highly desired
Experience growing audience for an owned and operated property is a must
Experience managing content teams a must
Experience managing tech and/or product teams is highly desired
Extensive experience with native and branded content software and tools (Nativo, SimpleReach, etc.)
Deep understanding of audience acquisition channels (social, email, etc)
True and deep experience with video, both in a strategic and a production sense (hands and pans, social style, etc.)
Strong analytics experience using Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and ChartBeat and other tools
