Position Overview:
The Distribution and Audience Development Manager develops insights into the performance of our branded content across four sites (today.com, cnbc.com, msnbc.com, and NBC News) and all distribution platforms, forming actionable insights that help our content reach more people in real-time. Reporting to the VP of Branded Content, the Distribution and Audience Development Sr. Manager drives the evolution of our branded products by reviewing product performance and suggesting ways to optimize our offerings, and by continually testing and evaluating new distribution strategies and tactics. A dynamic, passionate, and analytically-minded individual, the Distribution and Audience Development Sr. Manager will have a deep passion for data-driven insights, explicit understanding of the branded content and social media landscape, and the ability to communicate complex quantitative analyses in a clear and concise manner.
Responsibilities Include:
Analyze and report on the performance of branded content across multiple sites, creating actionable insights that help our content (articles, video, and graphics) reach more people in real-time
Responsible for full campaign distribution of native elements including marketing across NBCU sites and other relevant channels and platforms. Includes both native marketing and paid digital marketing
Design and implement trend reports that track KPIs and provide actionable insights
Work with internal and 3rd-party data sources in order to process data
Create a productive feedback loop with the editorial team to influence decision making with data-driven recommendations
Partner closely with NBC News audience development team to leverage native units and traffic for campaign delivery
Work with the editorial team to create content plans that inform current and future programming decisions
Work with editorial, marketing and sales to help them understand audience behavior across all of our distribution channels and highlights business trends
Work with editorial team and video producers (both in team meetings and on a 1:1 basis) to deliver useful feedback on story choice and narratives
Develop and maintain traffic forecasts to support key stakeholders
Provide traffic data and audience insights to the sales team
Recommend and manage tools and services to optimize native offering
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
At least five (5) or more years of agency or client-side digital media experience, specifically in social media, publishing, or display
Strong Excel skills and the ability to manage and analyze large sets of data (you love a good pivot table)
Experience working with publisher-side web-tracking technology (Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Omniture, WebTrends, etc.)
Experience working with advertiser-side tracking technology (DoubleClick, Atlas, etc.)
Deep understanding of how social platforms work, and experience using social media insights platforms such as Facebook Insights / Ads Manager
Passion for understanding technology and emerging platforms, such as Snapchat
Proficiency in relational databases including SQL is a plus
