Responsibilities
The Technical Specialist – Release Management team will be part of a rapidly growing multi-billion dollar entertainment company. The primary focus of this role will be to assist the Manager of Guest Systems Support – Release Management with ensuring process, protocol, policies, structure, metrics, and all tasks defined by release management governance are followed. The release management model supports an agile-based project management methodology developing critical deliverables on a SOA based architecture model leveraging a technical stack of emerging cognitive computing technology.
The Release Management Technical Specialist is responsible for participating in the overall strategy, standardization, implementation of release management activities as well as monitoring system production releases within Universal Parks Technology.
General responsibilities include:
• Assist with defining and implementing release processes from code through development, test, production deployment and post-hypercare on an Agile or Waterfall methodologies
• Assist with planning each release - identifying potential risks, production system impact (ie stability, performance, integrity, etc), and assisting with release communication
• Measure and monitor implementation success and challenges for lessons learned
• Assist with Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, Pre-Requisites reviews and Business Go/No-Go reviews
• Responsible for release reporting and metrics, including metrics definition, related to release process
• Collaborate with relevant internal and external teams and stakeholders associated with Universal Parks and Resorts, on maintaining environment integrity and parity, tracking and communicating release dependencies, features, pre-requisites, defects and their resolution
• Assist with maintaining the release schedule/calendar for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors
• Enforce and establish proper release documentation and process design to release management current and future state
• Assist with communicating all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements and incidents, QA plans, schedule, pre-requisites, and scope changes
• Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
• Keep Release Management team updated on findings
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborates in team environments and independently with vendors, business partners and IT teams on release management processes definition, implementation and measurement
• Analyze internal and external processes, document findings, identify areas for improvement and give recommendations to improve release management processes
• Implementing high quality, scalable and extendable metrics to evaluate release health
• Drive definition and creation of metrics to identify critical issues impacting operations and strategy
• Incident and request development monitoring.
• Drive methodologies with business and IT constituents at all levels through a hands-on approach to implement best practices.
Qualifications/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to demonstrate detailed technical knowledge in Microsoft Suite products – user level.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail
• Proven ability to assimilate complex technical concepts
• Experience with reading and understanding technical diagrams and documents
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to make effective decisions while working through complex issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organization skills
• Experience working in an Agile structured environment
• Project Management experience – 10+ years
• Release Management experience
• Big Data concepts
• Working experience with projects deployed using the CAB process
• Certified in a formal IT service management practice such as ITIL
• PMP Certified
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Formal Release Management experience
• Admission systems and processes, web-based stores, and xml interfaces
• Theme Park experience
