The Public Relations Manager develops and executes strategic plans to increase consumer and trade awareness of specified magazine brands and digital businesses. This position proactively promotes the editorial content, develops and distributes news releases and content highlight sheets; and manages project workflow. The Public Relations Manager strengthens visibility of editorial, business, and NMG spokespeople and leverages current industry events and news trends to create media opportunities.

Creates and distributes press releases and highlight sheets to proactively promote editorial content for brands and digital media.

Leverages current industry events and trends to create opportunities that increase visibility of editorial and NMG spokespeople

Partners with business and marketing departments to develop public relations strategies that yield results that can be leveraged for marketing and sales purposes.

Develops news releases on rate base increases, circulation vitality, brand performance, innovations, new hires and promotions and other relevant industry news in order to increase visibility of magazine and digital brands.

Performs on-going outreach to develop and strengthen relationships with consumer print and broadcast media contacts as well as trade contacts.

Creates customized databases for monthly outreach and other special initiatives such as marketing events.

Responds to media inquiries in a timely manner. Provides editorial copy, images or coordinates interviews.

Manages freelancers and agencies that provide supplemental public relations services.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Three years public relations experience.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent command of language with strong telephone and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create press material and interact effectively with internal and external contacts.
Strong organization and follow-through skills required.
Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Ability to research, assess and access resources.
Strong computer skills and Internet familiarity.
Strong writing skills.
Ability to think creatively about brand content regardless of platform.
Knowledge and comfort using social media platforms to generate brand awareness.
Understanding of key databases such as Cision, Burrelles, etc.
