Job Description:

DreamWorks Animation Education seeks an Intern for the Training and Artistic Development departments in Glendale, CA. In this role, the intern will learn about the training process for various Production Departments (Animation, Effects, Surfacing, Matte Painting and etc.) at an animation studio, including an operational knowledge of training lab equipment and an understanding on production training curricula.
The intern will also gain insight into, and participate in, a regular studio arts practice at an animation studio through the Artistic Development program. Artistic Development designs, plans, and administers ongoing studio arts classes, lunchtime lectures, special series workshops, employee galleries, screenings, off-site enrichment opportunities, and an annual employee art fair for DreamWorks Animation artists.
Position Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include preparing training labs and the art studio for classes, as well as collecting and entering data into the training database. The intern will design posters and slides to promote both Training and Artistic Development classes and events. Working with the Training team, the intern will help complete basic video editing of recorded classes. Regular studio maintenance, art supply inventory, and furniture reconfiguration for art studio classes and events will be required.
In addition, the intern will be encouraged to attend both Training and Artistic Development classes to learn about the animation pipeline, the software used to create our movies, and grow or further develop skills in fine art. The intern will have the opportunity to meet with artists from departments of interest to learn about the day to day process for those departments.
Qualifications:
• A Junior or Senior BA/BS candidate currently enrolled in a four-year college or university.
• Strong interest in CG animated feature film production.
• Proficiency in Photoshop with a basic knowledge of graphic design.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (especially Excel).
• Basic video editing knowledge, preferably in Adobe Premiere.
• Experience working with computer hardware and input devices.
• A team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidently looks to solve problems, manages time efficiently, and pays close attention to detail.
• Exposure or experience in art studios, galleries, and/or customer service preferred but not required.
