SUMMARY
Responsible for providing strategic direction to the Procurement Department in the external procurement, sourcing, and contracting of goods and services. Provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions. Contributes to the development of the organizations' business strategy. Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to align with strategy. Develops enterprise-wide procedures and objectives and communicates them to lower-level management. Initiates and maintains relationships with vendors and department business units to ensure quality and cost-effective goods and services. Typically manages multiple teams of professionals.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Exceptional negotiation skills with senior level executives of major corporations with extensive technology experience in hardware technology deals as well as software
• Proven understanding of software, tools and maintenance across technology industry
• Skilled in business negotiations and financial management with a focus on analytical problem solving, strategic planning, market research, competitive analysis and business development
• Experience with net fixed price contracts.
• Ability to increase opportunity and reduce risks by maintaining a portfolio of suppliers that meets company's needs and offer alternatives
• Vendor experience including key products, components and architectures with vendors such as Cisco, Arris, Juniper, Ciena, HP and other 'like' vendors. Critical to understand how they impact and compete with each other in all spaces
• Understanding of technology, vendor landscape, competition, roadmaps and other MSO architectures
• Extensive experience operating across multiple Business Units, legal entities and functional teams
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Results-oriented risk taker that excels at evaluating technical, financial and other related factors that establish product and corporate goals
• Industry knowledge and expertise: Advise, facilitate and coordinate business units, engineering, operations and finance activities on major technology investments and decisions
• Manage vendor relationships ensuring company maintains preferred status and access to senior executive leadership
• Strong MSO or telecommunications ties with a proven track record
• Strong vendor relationships at all levels
• Assure industry leading stewardship for Diversity and Inclusion by leading supplier alignment to achieve corporate goals
• Consistent execution to reduce hard dollars through negotiation, competition and cost analysis
• Consistent expansion of value and capability within Capex spend through analysis of Vendor product roadmaps and forward pricing on new functionality.
• Support contracts: identifying and driving net costs to be aligned to value and capturing efficiencies in scale; includes Service Level 'right sizing'.
• Delivering vendor quality with enhanced SLAs, formalized escalation and accountability, and actionable cost recovery vehicles.
• Capture added commercial value: e.g. supplier funded training and labs, supplier inventories, engineering services and balance of trade such as marketing and advertising and business services opportunities.
• Careful coordination and partnership with engineering and divisions on requirements and communication to ensure appropriate spend of Capital and Operating expenditures.
• Deliberate purchase planning and scaling deal sizes for optimal leverage in negotiations.
• Vendor competition and relationship management.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead effective teams
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Minimum of a 4-year Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred
