The Project Coordinator (JEO)reports directly to the Head of Strategic Management and undertakes Project Coordination, communication and evaluation tasks in line with their line manager’s prioritisation. The Project Coordinator (JEO) keeps in close contact with the JEO organisation via documentation and regular updates, and with stakeholders in other departments via formalised and agreed communications channels.
Key responsibilities:
Delivering on strategic operational goals:
• Assisting the Head of Strategic Management in creating efficiencies and improving resourcing balance within the London JEO team, and vendors and aligning these with the global JEO business where relevant
• Undertaking responsibility for coordinating Global JEO projects, as required, from London, to improve the strategic position of London JEO as contributing to global/strategic project leadership.
• Executing structural and procedural changes, coordinating and implementing projects in consultation with stakeholders
• Ensuring the structural and procedural changes are supported by existing data, and/or clearly monitored and tracked to evaluate success/failure
• Prioritisation of strategic projects and responsibility for timely delivery on implementations and evaluations
• Responsibility for coordinating communications, announcements, progress reports and updated information via line management, documentation, and to other business stakeholders, as appropriate via meetings and email
Person Specification
Required
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) – e.g. able to accurately provide complex information to clients who may not have English as a first language
• Highly organised – e.g. able to schedule multiple priorities and stick to deadlines
• Proven track record of balancing multiple and potentially conflicting priorities
• Highly detail oriented – e.g. able to extract useful information from reports
• Embraces change with a positive attitude
• Highly Computer literate – understands common software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite), Editorial Manager, Delilah, iMarcros and gains new software skills quickly
• Solid experience of providing high-quality customer service
Desired – one or more of
• A background or interest in science, publishing or other relevant experience
• Experience in scientific peer review and peer review systems
• Track record of identifying issues and using own initiative to suggest solutions
• Evidence of positive interaction with other teams within BioMed Central/Springer Nature
