Who does the Next Gen Access Technologies team work with?
The team manages new technology development and deployment programs that require coordination across multiple teams. There is a strong, collaborative relationship between Next Gen Access, developers, vendors, QA engineers, deployment and operations teams as partners in the delivery of quality systems and services. We work at all levels of the organization to plan and deliver new services and service capabilities.
What are some interesting problems you’ll be working on?
In this role, you will provide leadership to key Next Gen Access programs. You will be responsible supporting the development and testing of technology to continuously improve/develop Comcast’s access networks capabilities. You will also provide technical and program level leadership across development and test teams, and support deployment and operations teams. You will work with these teams to help define new programs/projects, develop and support testing programs/project delivery through the service development lifecycle and provide frequent plan and status updates to leadership and all teams involved. You will help manage priorities and work sequencing across all efforts.

Responsibilities:
• Manage and develop testing for highly complex access networks technology programs to meet broad service/product objectives.
• Direct all phases of lab activities for new access technology development from inception to qualification.
• Act as a primary contact for the Next Gen Access Networks development testing activities, leading technical and program review sessions to discuss schedule and technical performance.
• Establish milestones and monitor adherence to plans and schedules, identify delivery risks, and obtain/drive mitigation strategies and solutions.
• Be well versed with both Waterfall and Agile development processes, with prior experience as a Scrum Master a plus.
• Maintain communication with stakeholders, including product teams, development teams, marketing, upper management, and external customers as needed.
• Coordinate across multiple engineering/development teams as needed.
• Serve as a conduit between deployment and engineering to ensure requirements and design considerations are incorporated to improve deployment and sustainability of software and services.
• Identify and enumerate system dependencies. Work with dependent system owners to ensure timely and smooth integration.
Skills & Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Strong preference for a minimum 5 years in a combination of cable network architecture, specification, engineering, validation; operational and deployment experience a plus.
• Requires experience leading and supervising a team of engineers, including a mix of employees and contractors
• Requires detailed understanding of the DOCSIS, DSG, PacketCable, PCMM, and OCAP protocols, and related components, such as cable modems, MTAs, set-top boxes, etc.
• Requires experience with RF and cable plant engineering, including modulation techniques, RF performance characterization, forward error correction, multiple access techniques, system link budgets for signal level and noise and interference toleration, data throughputs, reliability, availability, latency, jitter, customer experience for voice, video, and data services over fiber optic, coaxial cable and wireless networks.
• Requires experience working with industry organizations and members, including CableLabs and SCTE, and with other cable operators.
• Experience in standards development is highly desirable.
