DESCRIPTION:
CBS WFOR-TV in Miami has an opening for an Assignment/Planning Editor who can determine news assignments as supervised by the Assignment Manager; monitor law enforcement and fire frequencies on newsroom scanners for spot news; telephone law enforcement and fire-fighting agencies to determine if spot news must be assigned; prepare a detailed daybook describing what stories are being covered, who is covering them; make photographer assignments in addition to assigning and distributing live truck and live backpack assignments; gather information by telephone on news stories which are not assigned to reporters; participate in story meetings to inform on events and help determine if they need to be covered, and to what extent; develop contacts in community and cultivate them for news stories; perform other duties which may be assigned from time to time based upon events of the day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have minimum 5-8 years assignment desk experience. Knowledge of television news and familiarity with South Florida area are required. Experience with logistics and technical operations a plus.
