Purpose
As a Journal Development Coordinator, you are responsible for contributing to the success of a list of Korea-based journals. This involves preparing journal-specific reports; organizing and attending internal and external journal-related meetings and making presentations; completing payment request forms; supporting stakeholders (Editors, authors, reviewers, and societies) by providing information and answering questions. Both verbal and written communication skills are a key part of this role, along with developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with our stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Alongside the Journal Development Editor, develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Korea-based Editors-in-Chief, Society contacts, Editorial Board members and other stakeholders, acting as a local contact for publishing matters.
• Resolve queries and correspond with Editors by email, phone and in person, ensuring that responses are provided in a timely manner and escalated as required.
• Build excellent working relationships with the global publishing team and with other departments.
• Organize internal and external meetings
• Record and distribute meeting minutes
• Prepare and distribute journal-specific reports.
• Research and collate information on topics, competitors, and/or KOLs.
• Complete payment request forms.
• Carry out other job functions as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
• Bachelor degree or above
• Work experience in an online environment
• An interest in open access publishing
• Knowledge of publishing process and related matters
• Fluent in Korean and English
• Experience of developing and maintaining productive and friendly relations/partnerships with external contacts
• Customer focused
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Pleasant and tactful telephone manner
• Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail
• Able to complete tasks, working to (often competing) deadlines
• Analytical skills
• A positive and proactive approach to problem-solving in daily tasks
• Able to work cooperatively with global colleagues at all levels
• A high level of computer literacy (including MS Office, Outlook and internet browsers)
• Willingness to travel and represent BioMed Central at external events
