Charter Corporate office currently seeks a Director of Optical Transport for our Implementations and Operations Regional Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Transport oversees and leads optical transport network activities within the operating area. The area of responsibility spans the Regional Transport Network and the metro optical network between the headends and hubs. This position interfaces with the area engineering organization ensuring network health, effective issues resolution, and proactive network monitoring and analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Directly accountable for the engineering, operation, reliability, and performance of the area’s optical transport network .
• Manages network deployments and develops plans/strategies for future technology deployments.
• Proactively manages all aspects of the area optical transport network; this includes interfacing with the area leaders responsible for headends, hubs, critical infrastructure, and construction to ensure an optimal operating environment.
• Serves as primary liaison with the West Region leadership team in the development of network upgrade plans and schedules, operating area practices, and ensuring procedures are in compliance with all relevant Time Warner Cable standards.
• Responsible for operating area metrics, including network deployment schedules and network uptime.
Serves as primary contact and consultant to Commercial and Residential Area Directors for optical transport network projects in operating area.
• Participates in local leadership meetings on a regular basis in order to ensure a smooth engineering/operating environment
• Takes ownership of technical escalations related to the optical transport network in assigned area.
• Must have superior communications skills in order to operate locally and regionally and must be expert at working in cross functional organizations.
Direct accountability for meeting financial objectives within geographic operating area
• Responsibility for staff and project budgets, which account for the services that generate TWC's revenue streams.
• Partners with Finance and Accounting in the administration of a capital budget for major projects as well as labor capitalization.
Helps to cultivate future leaders within Engineering organization by giving them accountability and opportunities for growth.
• Responsible for employee selection, disciplinary, termination, and compensation decisions.
• Lead engineering team members in goal setting and achievement of goals.
• Interfaces with engineering organizations to develop both future engineers and leaders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience building data networks and managing a technical staff.
• Must possess a strong understanding of technology across multiple platforms (Optical/DWDM, IP Routing, CMTS, Video).
• Ability to drive hard results with the appropriate strategic foresight, business flexibility, and people sensitivity.
• An effective bridge-builder between organizations, with the necessary people and performance competencies to communicate a passion for winning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 11 to 15 years relevant work experience in a cable or telecommunications company, preferably within the operations/engineering environment
• 7 to 10 Years leadership experience
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Travel 25%
