The Higher Education Qualifications Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the continuing development, implementation and delivery of effective quality management systems for the Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals and other HE qualifications in collaboration with other key divisions within Pearson. The role requires the post holder to be flexible and adaptable and capable of supporting a range of other activities relating to quality assurance and quality enhancement.
This role covers all the associated activity, as follows:
-Provide advice and support to Pearson colleagues on behalf of the Higher Nationals Unit on all matters related to the quality assurance of our Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals and other HE provision, including academic regulations, quality assurance and enhancement policy, procedures, and processes, and recommend and manage updates
• Ensuring compliance with Ofqual’s regulatory requirements for accredited qualifications
• Ensuring implementation of the UK Quality Code and other requirements of the QAA and other quality assurance bodies
• Advising the HEQ Qualification Design Team in relation to quality assurance considerations/requirements for qualification validation/review events, and assisting in preparation of documentation, preparing accurate reports of meetings and following up actions.
• Assisting in the organisation required to cooperate with reviews and visits by internal departments or outside organisations such as Ofqual, the QAA and others.
• Maintaining a database of key Pearson quality assurance documentation, including validation documents, programme specifications, monitoring reports and handbooks. Establishing and maintaining a version control system.
• Devising quality assurance policy documents, new processes and representing the HEQ at meetings where quality assurance processes are being developed or maintained. Establishing and maintaining the version control system.
• Monitoring compliance with Pearson BTEC Higher National quality assurance processes.
• Organising and coordinating the Pearson Annual Programme Monitoring Report process within an agreed timeframe.
• Organising and coordinating the Pearson Annual Student Survey process within an agreed timeframe.
• Ability to understand and interpret data in order to prepare and present reports or to instigate compliance/enforcement activity as appropriate.
• Conducting reviews on Pearson BTEC Higher National providers.
• Assisting in the development of quality assurance updates and training, as well as liaising with Pearson colleagues from other departments in relation to the training of Pearson External Examiners (Standards Verifiers).
• Managing the HN Quality Assurance Data Analyst ensuring s/he obtains and monitors quality assurance data effectively
• Implementing and overseeing annual and periodic reviews of BTEC Higher National qualifications
• Working with HN Global to ensure that Higher National quality assurance policies and documents are available and regularly updated, and monitor the use of HN Global as a key part of the Pearson quality assurance process

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Essential:

Desirable:
▪ Experience of teaching and/or developing educational services
▪ Experience of BTEC Higher Nationals
▪ A proven track record of leading projects and influencing within teams, as well as working in a matrix structure
▪ Knowledge/experience of implementing efficacy
EXPERIENCE
Essential
1. Experience of working in an administrative role in Higher Education, ideally in quality management.
2. A thorough understanding of the role of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and the UK Quality Code

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
