Summary of Internship
National Geographic Society is seeking a Marketing Content and Analytics Intern to join and support our Marketing and Engagement’s Impact Programs team. This person will assist in marketing our science, exploration, conservation, and education project efforts, and support a digital marketing strategy to key stakeholders (e.g., educators, museum visitors, scientists, and the general public). The main responsibilities will include content development, curation, and execution of email, print, web, and social media campaigns, as well as conducting research and managing marketing databases.
Five Principal Learning Responsibilities
• Enhance content marketing skills by assisting with email, print, web, and social media content development, curation, and execution (40%)
• Learn how to use Google analytics, Mailchimp, and other measurement tools (20%)
• Hone skills in research and data analytics to improve NGS’ digital presence and how the Society communicates with its audiences (20%)
• Strengthen ability to effectively communicate through report creation and data maintenance for digital campaigns and events (10%)
• Expand understanding of marketing and specifically non-profit marketing (10%)
Related Field of Study Required
Undergraduate or graduate degree in marketing, communications, advertising, education, environmental science/geography, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Ability to work well with others and independently as needed
• Experience working on multiple deadlines and priorities
• Excellent communication, organizational and creative writing skills – clear and concise writing required
• Research and data analysis experience required
• Social media, print, email, and/or web content creation experience a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Adobe Suite a plus
• A demonstrated interest in conservation, science, education, and exploration encouraged
• Positive attitude with proactive approach
Eligibility
Candidate must be enrolled at an accredited College or University at the time of application.
Internship Program Start and End Dates
• Start Date: Monday, June 5, 2017
• End Date: Friday, August 11, 2017
