DESCRIPTION:
CBS Sports Digital, the fastest-growing Top 10 sports property of both 2015 & 2016, is seeking a Senior Director to lead our Integrated Marketing (Sales Marketing) efforts. CBS Sports Digital sits at the intersection of three powerful brands: CBS (#1 most watched network), CBS Interactive (#1 premium digital content producer) and CBS Sports (#1 in the biggest sports and events including the NFL, SEC Football, College Basketball/March Madness, The Masters/PGA Tour golf, Fantasy Sports and Games).
The Senior Director will oversee the day-to-day of the 10 person Integrated Marketing team, providing direction and guidance while ensuring a smooth-running operation and maintaining high quality output. The Senior Director is responsible for developing our overall advertising go-to-market strategy for Sports, focused primarily on sponsorship packages and innovative ad products. Specifically, the Senior Director will oversee ideation, packaging, development, implementation and evaluation of revenue-generating programs for CBSSports.com, 247Sports.com, MaxPreps.com, Scout.com and SportsLine.com across all platforms. This role will provide the Sales/Marketing perspective and input when working closely with key leaders from other departments, such as Editorial/Video, Product, Technology, Consumer Marketing, Business Development and Yield (for pricing and inventory optimization). This individual will also be responsible for supporting and cultivating new and existing advertising relationships by leading "big ideas" brainstorming and clearly conveying the value of our advertising programs to drive incremental value to our clients and revenue to the business.

The ideal candidate will have media/publishing/agency experience, will have a thorough understanding of the entire online advertising ecosystem (video, display, search, social, mobile and programmatic), and have solid experience in managing large teams.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of 10 employees to drive advertising and marketing innovation within our brands and on behalf of our customers.
• Formulate and implement forward-thinking, effective marketing strategies and campaigns for clients across multiple platforms and target audiences.
• Participate in senior staff meetings with Sales Mgmt, the Sports GM and Product/Tech/Edit leads
• Partner with internal groups to optimize advertising inventory to maximize campaign performance for our clients, while maximizing revenue for the business unit.
• Work closely with counterparts and other Sales teams across CBS, especially CBS Sports Broadcast and Cable, to build and execute cross-platform programs, driving incremental revenue for CBS.
• Partner with sales and marketing teams to establish sales marketing materials that resonate and communicate our unique advertising offerings and targeting capabilities.
• Partner with sales, product, business development, business intelligence and product marketing teams to design and execute advertiser programs with flawless execution and optimization.
• Produce insights and analytics that 1) demonstrate the effectiveness of client’s advertising programs, 2) reinforce the importance of aligning advertising to premium original content, and 3) communicate the influence and value of our target audiences against a client’s business objectives.
• Communicate with people inside and outside the organization to represent how CBS Interactive supports and exceeds campaign and business goals for our customers.
• Build strong working relationships with coworkers, direct reports, customers (internal and external), and company management.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to employees in your reporting chain utilizing best practices as a people manager and organizational leader.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• 10+ years experience in digital publishing/media and/or ad agency, with experience in sports.
• Deep knowledge of sales and marketing principles and methods for demonstrating, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes solution-selling marketing and sales strategy and tactics, sales techniques and sales control systems.
• Thorough understanding and experience (managing and setting strategy) with common digital publishing metrics and analytics including yield, RPM, CPM pricing, audience packaging and targeting.
• Can-do attitude, ability to manage ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Possesses a hands-on approach to marketing with strong project management and prioritization skills.
• Strong communication skills, particularly with clients, internal colleagues and the industry community.
• Demonstrated executive management agility, and the ability to build strong relationships at the executive and field levels.
• Successfully anticipates market trends and leverages his/her knowledge to advance the business.
• Balances data, personality and positional power when influencing others, and negotiates solutions in complex situations.
• Adopts best practices, thinks of alternative ways to get things done, and savvy and pragmatic on how to effect change.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience required; MBA preferred.
• Must successfully pass a background check
