BestProducts.com is seeking a talented Director to join its brand-spanking new localized video team. With the backing of Hearst Digital Media, but the vibe of a start-up, you’ll experience the best of both worlds. This person will be responsible for the video content strategy for all local video content (specifically six major cities, to start) for the social beast aka Facebook.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for products, events, places, and experiences that are unbelievable, quirky, awe-inducing – and most importantly, make viewers want to say ‘look how cool this is!’ and then share with all their friends.
The candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a team that establishes our local voice and aesthetic. This person will bring BestProducts.com to life in video, create a distribution strategy, monitor analytics, oversee production, and manage video ideas from ideation to execution. We’ll have producers on the ground in each city plus post-production and social staff here in the NYC office. You get to decide what we shoot and how we portray it to the internet!
Responsibilities:
• Candidates must have lived aspects of this job in previous roles
• 7+ years experience in digital video production
• Find surprising, fun, and exclusive products, places, and events at the city level
• Manager producers/shooters from afar
• Oversee the video roll out schedule
• Review videos, graphics, audio and give feedback to the editors to ensure all videos meet BP standards
• Work with the site stakeholders to ensure appropriate staffing levels while staying within HDM budget
• Direct brainstorm and pre-production meetings with the local producers and remote editors
• Edit videos and create graphics as needed
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator
• Must be able to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with curve balls
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed
