CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities:
Aggressively pursue smart, relevant breaking news.
Assign and manage multiple news crews, based on individual assessment of the best use of time and resources.
Monitor news scanners and social media sites from all sources including, but not limited to, law enforcement, fire agencies, courts, news websites, Twitter and Facebook.
Generate and develop enterprise story ideas; attend and contribute to editorial meetings.
Develop relationships and contacts in the community and cultivate those contacts for news stories; communicate with Public Information Officers and Public Relations contacts in order to solicit and obtain information pertaining to newsgathering, planning and follow-up of news stories.
Maintain ongoing data for high-profile stories and collaborate with Producers and Reporters to develop these stories.
Perform other duties as assigned from time to time based upon events of the day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Generally, 2-5 years of progressively complex related experience preferred
Knowledge of television broadcasting and familiarity with DFW area is a plus
Strong news judgment, organizational and planning skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Possess the ability to respond quickly, calmly and professionally to deadlines, changing circumstances and breaking news; must be able to quickly prioritize and make decisions requiring independent judgment.
