Networks Ops Center (NOC) Engineer
Crackle is looking for a Netowrk Operation Center (NOC) Engineer to join the team in Culver City, CA. The primary responsibilities of this role include participating in the general Network Operations Center duties that cover the deployment, maintenance, monitoring, update and limited troubleshooting of Crackle, along with participation in inter- and intra-department escalations and independent projects across all of Sony Pictures Television Networks digital platforms.
Requirements to fulfill this position include basic understanding and troubleshooting skills for windows servers, networking, client-side and server-side applications, and monitoring. NOC Engineers are also expected to learn all technologies used in the Crackle production environments and follow all company policies and standard operation procedures while performing their duties.
NOC Engineers participate in the 24x7 NOC schedule, monitor dashboards, e-mail and ticket queues, and answer emergency phone calls. They are expected to collect preliminary information, perform basic troubleshooting and escalate to other team members.
What You'll Do:
• Take on the toughest problems.
• Work with other teams to solve problems, both reactively and proactively, as well as ensuring uptime during maintenance procedures.
• Create monitors and alarms based off problems you are helping to solve day to day.
• Analyze performance data and provide valuable reports to identify early signs of issues.
Responsibilities:
• Problem troubleshooting and resolution, including interaction with Ad Ops, Content Ops, Video Ops, vendors, DevOps, delivery team, and engineering.
• Proactively monitoring the production environment to detect and resolve problems and ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Provide internal business support, with excellent customer service.
• Own and manage NOC incidents from inception through resolution.
• Thorough documentation of incident and problem details in near real-time.
• Ensure SLA’s are met for the DevOps and NOC.
• Create and maintain knowledge base articles, policies and procedures
• Execute documented run books as documented for diagnosis and remediation of issues.
• Generate performance analysis reports.
• Create new monitors and alerts based on problems being solved day to day.
Requirements:
• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Successful applicant will have one to three years of related experience, which includes systems support, Incident Management, hands-on application, server and network problem solving, and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong interest in professional development
• Experience with ticketing systems.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including resources, priorities, and timelines.
• Applicant MUST demonstrate a functional knowledge of Windows OS, system administration, networking, performance data analysis, and monitoring.
• Experience with enterprise class monitoring/management systems (e.g. APM, Log Aggregator, External Monitoring, System monitoring, Network Monitoring, etc.)
• Must be willing to work weekends, overnight shifts and holidays when needed
• Ability to quickly and efficiently address customer needs by providing solutions to customer issues or escalating to another support group when necessary
• Ability to think out of the box and be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust priority dynamically and maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
• Experience with system, network, and application monitoring
• Experience with data center environments
• Experience with virtualization technologies
