Product Manager, Retention
Crackle, Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) digital network is seeking a talented Product Manager whose primary focus will be on user retention and driving the product marketing toolset roadmap.
The Product Manager - Retention is a person who is deeply connected to the world of digital video entertainment; a person who understands consumer behavior (data driven) and evolving trends with respect to video consumption on traditional platforms (e.g., linear TV) and emerging platforms and devices. The Product Manager - Retention will be responsible for defining enhancements to consumer facing applications, CRM toolsets toolsets etc running from registration, to addressing churn through personalization all the way through various engagement KPI’s. The goal of which being to drive loyalty while building a multi touchpoint CRM relationship for the business to connect with users.
The qualified candidate will have at least 1-3 years of direct CRM experience with the ability to be nimble and recognize when to pivot strategy in an always-evolving digital landscape, while taking advantage of industry trends both locally and globally. He or she will also be passionate about what they do and is motivated by the opportunity to have a direct impact on and a front row seat to the digital revolution affecting media today.
The ideal candidate will ask questions like, what are our truths related to the return user experience? What value can we add to ensure users have a reason to come back time and time again? What are the most effective touchpoints we have with our users and how can we maximize our ability to communicate via those touchpoints? An in-depth understanding of Agile software development methodologies, consensus building, stake holder management and product management best practices in an agile environment (in order to effectively manage multiple concurrent and dynamically changing efforts) is essential as well.

The Product Manager - Retention will be an individual contributor reporting to the Product Director - Retention thereby being part of the Global Digital Platform Group working alongside lean product teams tasked with owning different buckets of the experience (reach, revenue, retention).

Crackle is an ad and subscription based streaming video network that offers consumers access to full-length Hollywood movies, TV shows, and original series -- all uncut, uncensored, and free. Crackle is currently available on 28+ applications and platforms across web, mobile/tablet, smart TVs and video game consoles in 21 countries and 3 languages. Crackle is a part of Sony Pictures Television, one of the industry’s leading content providers producing, distributing and delivering programming worldwide in every genre and every platform.
Responsibilities:
• Keep on top of industry trends and technologies, and be prepared to apply them quickly
• Keep on top of Crackle’s trends and technologies, specializing in registration and user benefits and how they compared to competitor trends
• Refine and enhance Crackle’s current user benefit offering while creating and maintaining an additional backlog of future features and experiences
• Author detailed product briefs explaining the why and the what for a given initiative
• Work closely with programming, marketing, content operations, research, legal and PR teams to ensure product specifications include all necessary business requirements
• Create flow charts and user stories and work with solution design and UI/UX teams to ensure product specifications are met with final solution/design
• Work with project management/release team to ensure final products are built to the product specification and UI/UX specifications
• Develop and track all key metrics related to Crackle user registration and device activation, specifically the ease-of-use, usage of promoted benefits, returning users activity, etc.
• Track all key metrics related to Crackle programming/merchandising areas, specifically which areas/programming give us maximum viewership versus areas and programming that under-perform.
• Assist in defining the long term roadmap for a specific product to ensure all meet business objectives
• Relationship management with stakeholder including driving consensus and prioritization
• Ensure that all new features, enhancements, applications are viable across all territories/implementations.
• Any other tasks as assigned or required
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the digital media, marketing, advertising or entertainment fields
• 3 years of experience in managing subscription, heavy user acquisition or high quality streaming services (live or VOD)
• Minimum 1-3 years CRM experience (direct experience preferred, indirect possible) in product marketing or associated role
• Background in at least one of the following types of platforms: connected TVs, mobile devices, game consoles
• Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of concurrent projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment
• Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
• Must demonstrate solid organization/communication skills
• Experience leveraging and interacting with all social media platforms
• Data driven with a strong attention to detail and familiarity with analytics tools (e.g. Adobe analytics and the like)
• Ability to secure cooperation and drive consensus across various departments as well as partners internally and externally
• Movie, television, music and technology junkie
• The candidate must have a BS, BA, or advanced degree in computer science, communications or related field, or relevant work experience
• MBA not required but strongly recommended
• Understanding of HTML, CSS, Javascript and other presentation technologies as well as streaming media protocols and DRM such as HLS, Smooth Streaming, PlayReady etc. a plus
• Global experience not required but a strong plus
