DESCRIPTION:
We're looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a strong editorial and social media background to help manage daily content publication on social platforms, discover trending content on social media and create video pieces for CBSNews.com and social media. This candidate must be able to create strong editorial content that will engage audiences across various digital platforms.
The ideal candidate will be well versed in the best practices of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat - all social platforms -- as demonstrated by his or her active social media profiles. S/he must understand the most current and changing content strategies and marketing techniques utilized by these platforms.
The duties of the Weekend Social Media Producer will include, but will not be limited to:
Creating videos for CBSNews.com, social and off-platforms
Writing, reporting and discovering stories for CBS News.
Producing social posts consistent with the CBS News brand
Candidate qualifications:
3 to 5 years of social media experience in a news environment
Experience working in a digital newsroom
Must be able to shoot and edit video content, and be able to demonstrate video production skills via portfolio of work
Self-starter who is able to identify news stories and social trends and be capable of producing relevant content and videos
Team player who is able to work with a diverse group of people
Deep familiarity with social media audiences and best practices
Experienced user level with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Snapchat
Strong writing skills with demonstrated portfolio of published work
Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines
Flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
Degree in journalism, communications or related
