We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Senior Academic Designer. This position is part of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Learning Solution Center. This position is a full-time position with a choice of working from the NYC office. Does this sound like you?
Critical functions:
• Visualize and create animated and highly interactive content.
• Supervise the design, development, and delivery of interactive teacher and student instructional materials for Science across digital and print mediums.
• Mentor and lead a grade-level team in the production of accurate, error-free, high-quality products that meet curriculum standards (including NGSS) and that display appropriate content, reading level, grammar, and style.
• Create, track, and execute approved workflows at all stages to meet key milestones, intermediate, and final schedules.
• Identify and solve for issues and risks to schedule, development, and deliverables.
• Research trends, issues, content standards, and competitive products.
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met.
A successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in elementary or middle school education with an emphasis on science.
• Five plus years of elementary or middle school teaching experience.
• Five plus years of K-5 science editorial experience with digital know-how (understand platform requirements and limitations and affordances of digital capabilities).
• Experience in instructional design or educational technology for elementary and middle school curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
• Extensive understanding of NGSS – the framework, curriculum development against NGSS, alignment and assessment development across numerous states for customization.
• High level knowledge of LMS, CMS, e-book, video, simulations, games, content interactive design and development, and RFPs for vendors to execute on guidelines and expectations.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar and a strong attention to detail.
• Effective organizational and time management skills; productive, efficient work habits and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and exhibit flexibility.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
A successful candidate may have:
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with HTML syntax, elements and attributes.
• Experience with development for mobile technologies.
