Position Summary:
This position is a key member of Discovery’s Eurosport evolution team, charged with the definition and implementation of EPIC the next generation sports platform. Working closely with the Production Architect; this role is responsible for the design and specification of post-productions systems and workflows required to fulfill the EPIC vision.
EPIC – Eurosport Intelligent Production Cloud is a major change project within Discovery. A revolutionary new platform to facilitate the elastic, efficient and intelligent creation, management and delivery of Sports content. EPIC will streamline our operations and create unique experiences for our fans, changing the way that sports content is consumed. It is an ambitious project with an aggressive delivery schedule and requires unique team members who can think without boundaries and consistently deliver positive change.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the migration of Post Production systems to EPIC
• Define new workflows and strategies for the creation and manipulation of content.
• Research and identify key products for use within EPIC
• Build successful relationships with product vendors contributing to their product development.
• Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders and teams Identifying and manage business and training requirements
• Contribution to the definition, refinement and improvement of the EPIC vision
• Comfortable in an informal environment where teamwork, accessibility and pragmatism are emphasized
• Effective communication throughout the team and wider Discovery business
• Hold self and others accountable for performance
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a good level of understanding and experience in the following areas:
• Good working knowledge of cloud principles and services, specifically Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
• A thorough understanding of the principles of micro-services and elasticity within the cloud environment.
• An understanding of the software development process and agile working
• Subject matter expert in Post Production systems, workflows and requirements
• Excellent change management skills and will have successfully implemented major change projects
• The desire to create unique experiences and redefine broadcasting for a new generation
• Ability to work effectively within a small leadership team
• A self starter with excellent communication skills
• Experience of the broadcast supply chain is advantageous but not essential
