DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Software Engineer (ASE) is primarily responsible for designing, developing and maintaining PHP, JavaScript, and CSS code for high-volume, high-traffic, CMS system that supports properties across CBS Interactive. The ASE will collaborate with Engineering peers, Product Managers, Designers, Product Marketers, QA, Operations and Editors, to guide and produce functional specifications and implement final production-quality code directly within our live site code base. The ASE may lead small to mid-sized development projects, in addition to performing functional change requests and other minor engineering tasks. This position requires excellent communication skills, along with good organization and collaboration abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Skills:
At least 1+ year(s) development experience working with the following:
Required:
Web Standards, the DOM, cross-browser & cross-platform HTML
CSS positioning, HTML/CSS architecture
JavaScript (Native and Frameworks) and AJAX (w/ Restful API access)
PHP or equivalent server-side scripting language (Ruby, Python, JSP, ASP.net, etc.)
Java or equivalent programming language (C#, C, C++, Objective C, etc.)
XML or JSON
Preferred:
Experience with jQuery, RequireJS, Compass, SASS, LESS, Symfony, Laravel, Build Systems
Knowledge of Agile and/or similar development methodologies
Mobile application development (iPhone iOS (Objective-C), Android (Java, C, C++))
Ability to work as part of a close-knit cross-functional team
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail and a high-level of accountability
Ability to estimate development schedules
Must successfully pass a background check.
