IMAX Internships
At IMAX our internships offer visibility, hands-on learning, and practical work experience in a fun, friendly environment. We are committed to challenging and developing creative, hardworking students through a variety of interesting projects and responsibilities to supplement the student’s classroom training. Interns are encouraged to explore, develop and share their ideas while gaining valuable experience in the entertainment industry.
What you’ll be doing:
The position will involve working in a dynamic cross-functional project environment and interfacing with audio, video, software and mechanical specialists. The successful candidate has passion for HW design of advanced video and audio systems and has an interest in systems engineering.
The responsibilities will be focused on system and board level engineering support to the specification and design of the complex products. Ideally, the candidate has experience with analog and digital circuits, signal processing (FPGA/DSP), and hardware verification methods.
• HW Verification and design qualification of next-generation electronic/electrical equipment.
• System diagnostics and development of test fixtures.
• Prepare engineering/manufacturing documentation; schematics and design specifications, Bill of Materials (BOMs), systems requirements and test plans.
• Support product regulatory and safety certification.
• Support Software development team (integration control documents).
• Provide support to Manufacturing, Installation, Technical Services and Purchasing organizations.
What we’re looking for:
• Have thorough knowledge and passion for high end video and audio electronics.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to achieve issues resolution.
• Strong team player, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary design environment.
• Willing to work under schedule and pressure to achieve defined business goals.
• Knowledge of high speed design and various high speed serial buses including protocol level and signal integrity.
• Good understanding of cable design and documentation, both at the system and sub assembly level.
• Experience with PC architectures and fault diagnostics.
• Familiarity with electronic design tools (such as Orcad and or Altium).
• Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly.
• Hands-on experience and familiarity with oscilloscopes, analyzers and other related lab equipment.

• Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering Student
