Position Overview
Blizzard Entertainment has a distinctive art style, one that extends beyond our games and into our communities. We are looking for a talented and well-rounded graphic designer to support our community development department. The ideal candidate can leverage the Blizzard art style to create a wide range of art on multiple mediums, including but not limited to web graphics, social media, photography, and videos.
This designer must be versatile in creating and manipulating art assets into polished, usable formats across the same wide range of mediums. Additionally, this designer must be flexible and enjoy working on a variety of different projects while being able to manage multiple overlapping deadlines. Prior experience with high quality media requirements for popular social media platforms is a requirement!
Position Responsibilities
• Create assets for Blizzard websites, social media, and other external communication.
• Create video assets for broadcast and streaming.
• Manipulate image composition, and perform basic paint overs when necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of digital media requirements for social platforms.
• Navigate game clients and editors to set up, and capture print-quality screenshots for relevant Blizzard’s IP.
• Provide key assets to regional teams and ensure localization is feasible.
• Review and input on communication style guides with brand marketing and the game team.
• Review and provide input to UGC content creators for spotlight opportunities.
Requirements
• A minimum of 2 years’ professional experience as an artist
• Bachelor’s Degree in media art or related field or equivalent work
• Understanding of the art styles of Blizzard Entertainment's IPs
• High levels of creativity, and demonstrated ability to generate innovative concepts, designs, and ideas
• Exceptional eye for composition, contrast, and color
• Extensive knowledge of social media platforms, associated media requirements and best practices
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
• Advanced knowledge of video editing principles
• Understanding of web technology trends
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with frequent priority shifts
• Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude
• Able to work well in a collaborative team environment, and within an iterative design process
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Able to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays
Additional Considerations (Pluses)
• Knowledge and passion for Blizzard Entertainment games
• Experience with the game industry
• Experience working on social marketing campaigns
• Traditional art skills experience
• Passion for video games, movies, graphic novels, science fiction, and other elements of pop culture
• Experience with digital photography, and / or machinima
• Experience with game level editors, such as, the StarCraft II editor
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS or other programming languages
• Passion for video games, movies, graphic novels, science fiction, and other elements of pop culture
