Amplify builds innovative and compelling digital educational products that empower teachers and students across the country. We have a long history as the leading innovator in K-12 education - and have been described as the best tech company in education and the best education company in tech. While others try to shrink learning experiences into technology, we use technology to expand what teachers and students can achieve in real classrooms.
The Center for Early Reading at Amplify works with over two million students on early literacy development. We partner closely with leading practitioners and experts to build products and services that advance our mission of “saving literacy lives” - putting all children on a path to read by third grade.
Our Director, operations will:
• Act as point person for the core operational processes that make the business run - support budgeting, financial tracking, inventory management, fulfillment processes, margin analysis, and more
• Establish close partnership with managers and P&L owners - helping key leaders translate data about company performance into decisive action
• Serve as thought partner to COO - identifying where we can further “sharpen our saw”, planning and executing new approaches to do so
To do all of that well, the Director, Operations probably has demonstrated:
• Ability to turn data into insight - you’re conversant in financial reports, and quick to translate reams of information into high-level insight
• Rigor, logic, and structure - you tear through cloudy, amorphous business problems - identifying the decision that needs to be made, and the data needed to make it
• Finesse at getting things done in complex organizations
◦ You know how to design business processes that stick: convening, building consensus - all while creating a sense of momentum and follow-through
◦ You are sensitive to how business process shapes organizational culture, and take action with that in mind
• Education interest - You’ve had exposure to the education space - maybe you were a teacher, or ran a school, or built a non-profit, consulted to a school district, or invested in an education company
In order to be considered, you will have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field (MBA preferred)
• Three or more years experience in a similar role
• Experience in education
• Experience developing budgets and writing business plans
Work at Amplify is fast-moving, demanding and - we believe - deeply meaningful. We expect a lot of commitment, talent, grit, and optimism. In return, Amplifiers get:
• Competitive compensation
• Comprehensive benefits including 401k
• Unlimited vacation
• To collaborate with amazing colleagues who - together, will work on building a company that reshapes how students learn and teachers teach
