Media & Talent Relations Intern—Sony Pictures Television, Summer 2017 Internship
Overview:
The Media & Talent Relations team promotes and supports all Sony Television series via press. Our primary function is to ensure that Sony Pictures Television shows are being mentioned and featured in the news, print magazines and various media outlets. The Team consists of Publicists, Coordinator and 1 trainee.
Online social communities to further engage consumers, extend brand awareness, and drive tune-in to our movie channels. The team currently consists of the VP of Marketing and Manager of Consumer Marketing. Together they manage and grow the social communities on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube including writing copy, pulling/editing images and videos, reporting analytics, and planning the strategy.
Responsibilities:
Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Tracking daily press clips via cision and google
• Generate ideas for pitching stories, news angles
• Assisting in event planning and working check-in desks for events
• Assisting coordinator and trainee in overflow of answering phones
• Compiling and creating press books
• Writing/editing copy for Facebook and Twitter, predominantly for Cine Sony
• Pulling images for social media posts, editing images with channel branding
• Assist in booking travel for talent
The intern will gain experience/exposure to the following:
• How to pitch news stories
• Get familiar with news outlets and writers in the media
• How to create press books
• How to promote our television shows and talent
• Exposure to all other departments within the marketing team
Qualifications:
• Enrollment in an accredited college/university for the duration of the internship is required
• Passion and focus on public relations
• Familiarity with Cision
• Interest in entertainment, television, and movies
• Web/tech savvy
• Good eye for creative
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Program Information:
SPE’s Summer 2017 Internship is a 10 week full time program with two session starts, June 12-August 18 or June 26-September 1, 2017. All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited degree program for the entire duration of their internship and must be available for 40 hours per week for the full 10 week session.
