As Promotions Director for Cumulus Radio Ventura you will coordinate winning promotions that satisfy listeners and advertisers needs.
Education and Experience
A minimum of one year experience in the broadcasting field with the ability to demonstrate self initiative skills and the ability to show a level of business experience which includes significant public relations, organizational tasks, written and oral communications, public presentations, decision-making initiative, analytical skills, creativity and an ability to work independently are required. Must have the ability to manage programming and sales expectations to deliver promotions that accomplish programming and sales goals. High School diploma is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.
Essential Functions
Must have organization skills, able to help plan promotion ideas, assist with public relations, ability to deal effectively with diverse publics and committee staff. You should be able to represent Cumulus with public speaking, strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to oversee street team staff members. You will be required to provide Cumulus with a valid driver’s license and state mandated automobile insurance and an acceptable driving record.
Typical Duties
• Receives supervision and direction from Supervisor, Operations Manager
• Coordinates promotions upon approval for all station events
• Schedule and attend meetings that consist of Market Manager, Director of Sales, Operations Manager, and Account executives to discuss promotion options for potential business and community events.
• Organizes and works as assigned during the work week of Sunday – Saturday (days or nights) as necessary to accomplish goals.
• Helps with the creativity of designing flyers, posters, brochures, printed materials.
• Comfortable with working with media, public officials and business owners.
• Train and works with Street Team Assistants to ensure proper set-up and break-down of events.
• Coordinates schedules for Remote Broadcasts
• Coordinates schedules for Street Team Assistants
• Receive and processes Promotional forms, when needed requests signatures.
• Set up remotes for events as assigned and needed
• Assist with keeping accurate account of prizes
• Keep prize inventory organized
• Must have knowledge of current events
• Work with the On Air Talent to allow the sponsors message to reach its’ full potential
• Ability to entertain listeners by working with On Air Talent of the station.
• Promote company events on air
• Support the Sales Staff by providing information that can benefit the station and the company
• Utilize internal equipment associated with the day to day tasks
Must work well with others within the programming and sales departments, being mindful that the ultimate success of the promotion department necessitates that both the sales and programming departments’ objectives are met.
Must be able to receive direction and process duties as assigned as they may change due to decisions that are the best interest of the company.
Give creative input to “capture the moment” promotions, defined as promotions that take advantage of current trends or breaking news items.
Interact with on-air personalities and station program directors to ensure that on-site broadcasts and on-air giveaways are properly and timely executed.
