This position has direct responsibility for Home Delivery and Single Copy Distribution in a metro newspaper footprint, and reports to the Market Sales & DistributionDirector.
Responsibility will be for a defined geographic area (potentially multi-state), comprised of up to 500,000 daily & Sunday distribution, annual revenue of $90 Million and expenses of $45 Million . This includes home delivered, single copy, blue chip, education, and non-daily circulation from USCP and USAT along with a number of third party distribution partner contracts.
This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support home delivery and single copy revenue, volume growth and retention, while managing to budgeted expenses for all major aspects of distribution and service performance for the USCP and USAT Gannett properties, based on industry and market trends.
Manage performance metrics for finance and distribution for the assigned footprint. Review budgets and capital submissions for the footprint. Working with Sales and Regional Print Services, develop distribution plans to maximize logistics asset utilization at each site. Perform facilities management for external facilities (e.g. distribution centers). This position promotes customer satisfaction, and is responsible for ensuring that SOP's for customer service, personnel safety, complaint resolution, reporting, compliance of all local, state, federal, and Gannett regulations and policies are established and implemented consistently in the delivery area.
This position has overall responsibility for executing and ensuring accuracy of all zoned product distribution. This position will coordinate activities with Distribution Operations, Regional Print Services, and Contract Procurement. This position will be involved in the hiring of the Distribution Managers. This position will work with the Distribution Managers in determining whether to extend or terminate contractual relationships with distribution contractors.
Position will review all independent contractor agreements and rate proposals prior to offering. Must possess strong leadership, communication and motivational skills and provide consistent guidance to the region. This position will evaluate value-added opportunities within each region and help determine when additional equipment needs to be modified or purchased to meet the needs of new and existing customers. Identify regional best practices and assist in the implementation across the other regions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate degree in business or a related field plus at least 7-years experience in distribution management; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 7 years with at least five years in distribution management.

This position requires an individual who is able to manage a 7-day-a-week distribution operation. The individual must be available at any time as the situation warrants. This individual must be flexible to travel at any time.
